THATCHAM TOWN 1 – 2 BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS

THATCHAM TOWN 1 – 2 BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS

Andy Morris16 Mar - 07:50

Bemerton Heath maintained their play-off push with a 2-1 win at The Mettal Stadium.

Town keeper Matt Pullinger made a good early save to deny Patrick Jenkins, then made a better one two minutes later when Harlequins were awarded a penalty. Pullinger saved with his legs from Joe Smith’s low, central spot-kick.

However Smith made amends on 28 minutes when his close-range header from a corner bounced off the underside of the bar and was adjudged to have crossed the line.

Thatcham threatened when Ben Clark kept out a free-kick from captain Callum Willmoth, then George Higgins recovered to clear off the line after almost turning Jamie Davies’s centre into his own goal.

Both Davies and Kyle Daniel-Spray were off-target with efforts from the edge of the penalty area.

At the start of the second half Smith made it two, when he latched on to a through ball and poked the ball past Pullinger.

Thatcham grabbed one back on the hour, as Willmoth’s corner was headed into the goalmouth by Mo Ceesay and Harvey Flippance blasted home from close range.
