The blustery conditions and bobbly pitch contributed to it being a scrappy game, with a point the least Town deserved from another solid display.

In the first half Jadyn Dundas came close to opening the scoring - after being teed up by Harvey Flippance 15 yards out he fired his shot fractionally wide of the right upright.

James Pullinger was called in to action to make two saves in two minutes, diving low to keep out shots from Josh Webber and Matty Buchan.

At the start of the second half Flippance was played through on goal but goalkeeper Mike Searle charged out to save. Dundas then had an opportunity in front of goal from Kyle Daniel-Spray’s cross but failed to make contact with an attempted bicycle kick.

Subs Christian Johnson and Jenson Mansel both had penalty appeals turned down, and immediately following the first, Bideford countered and took the lead as Jamie Hearsey’s pass found Buchan who fired home.

But Town levelled five minutes later when Andy Matthews’s long clearance was misjudged by Searle, allowing Johnson to latch on to the ball and pass it into the empty goal.

In the closing seconds Callum Willmoth’s pass put Johnson through but Searle redeemed himself by getting a hand to the striker’s shot.
