Only a win was good enough for the young kingfishers and they got off to a perfect start with a goal in the first minute through the captain Noah Coates, and then the lead was doubled on 21mins with a goal through Freddie Dunham.

Ascot made it 2-1 just before half time.

The second half had chances for both teams but neither could capitalise and although an edgy last 10mins Thatcham held on to take the league title.

Both teams finished the season on level points but the title was awarded to Thatcham Town on the head to head results.
